I'm a big believer that like minded people are attracted to each other and the right people walk into your live at the right time. I saw Shaeveena's post on Facebook pure by chance one morning and she was asking for a wedding photographer for her upcoming wedding up at Sandburn Hall in York. I promptly replied to her request and instantly we struck up a strong online friendship. We seemed to click straight away. Now, I don't always book a couple without meeting them first but with Shaveena and Tom I just knew we would get along.
Sandburn Hall is a beautiful wedding venue on the outskirts of York surrounded fields and forest. It's a stunning location for a wedding. Thankfully on Shaveena and Tom's wedding day the weather behaved itself. A little windy but at least it wasn't raining. I'm not going to lie but when I parked up my car in the woods at Sandburn Hall and walked towards the lodge where Shaveena was getting ready I was a little nervous. What if I had got it wrong and they were a crazy couple! LOL! I needn't have worried as we got on like a house on fire and giggled and chatted most of the mornign away as Shaveena got ready. After spending the morning with Shaveena, I made my way to Sandburn Hall to meet Tom for the first time. He was the perfect gentleman, kind and quick-witted. But also, he had brought their dog Willow with him, a gorgeous female corgi. I'm all for dogs at weddings as they are part of your family and, if your venue will allow, your dog should be there. Willow, was wonderfully well behaved, didn't bark once and nearly got as much attention as the Bride and Groom.
The cermony was wonderful and I'll never forget the look Shaveena gave Tom when she got to the top. I am so grateful to have witnessed and captured it. You can tell that Tom and Serena love each other very much by the way they looked at each other, their body language and the way they interacted with each other all day.
After the ceremony we went out into the gardens for a few formal photos followed by my favourite part of the day a couple portraits. These two certainly rocked this part of the wedding day. They had a few ideas about some of the photos they wanted taking. They are big Star Wars fans and wanted to recreate some of the scenes from the film. We had fun recreating and we couldn't stop laughing and giggling throughout. Its important to try and incorporate your loves into your wedding day and it to be a true reflection of who you both are.
I am so glad I saw that Facebook post that morning and in turn got to capture Shaveena and Tom's wedding day. It's still one of my all time favorite weddings because they were so much fun and a very romantic couple. Also,they had Willow their dog there...perfect
