Some weddings are just worth the wait — and Laura and James’s beautiful summer wedding at Hellaby Hall Hotel in Yorkshire was definitely one of them.
Their original wedding plans were set for 2020, but like so many couples during the pandemic, Laura and James made the tough decision to postpone. Fast forward to August 2022, and their day finally arrived in all its sunshine-filled, joy-packed glory. And let me tell you — it was absolutely worth the wait.
A Love Story Four Years in the Making
I first met Laura and James back in 2018, and right away I knew I wanted to be their wedding photographer. We bonded over a shared love of photography, Disney magic, and a relaxed, fun approach to life. So when they asked me to capture their wedding day, I couldn’t have been more thrilled.
Although COVID delayed their big day, life brought them something truly special in the meantime — their gorgeous baby boy, Oliver. Having Oliver there on the day added an extra layer of meaning and made the whole celebration even more emotional and heartwarming.
A Perfect Summer Wedding at Hellaby Hall Hotel
Set in the heart of South Yorkshire, Hellaby Hall Hotel is a stunning 17th-century manor house and one of the region’s most elegant and historic wedding venues. With beautifully landscaped gardens, charming period architecture, and a relaxed atmosphere, it provided the perfect setting for Laura and James’s sunny August wedding.
From the moment I arrived, it was clear the wait had only made the day more meaningful. The whole venue was filled with laughter, singing, dancing, and happy tears — the kind of wedding every photographer dreams of capturing.
Family, Love, and Celebrations Worth Waiting For
One of the standout parts of the day was seeing Laura and James’s family and friends come together after years of waiting to celebrate their love. There was such a strong sense of connection and joy throughout the day — everyone fully present, soaking up every moment.
Oliver completely stole the show (as toddlers tend to do!) with his cuteness and cheeky little smile, and I could see just how proud and emotional Laura and James were to have him with them on this special day.
Their ceremony was heartfelt and personal, and the reception was a true celebration — filled with great food, lots of hugs, a buzzing dance floor, and endless love.
