Weddings at Cubley Hall in Penistone are always a dream to photograph, and Emma and Gareth’s big day was no exception. As a South Yorkshire wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing many celebrations at this gorgeous countryside venue, and every single time it delivers — warm hospitality, incredible food, and an unbeatable rustic charm.
A Love Story Born at the Poolside
Emma and Gareth’s story began at Hillsborough Leisure Centre, where they both worked as lifeguards. After a few fun dates filled with food and drinks, their connection grew stronger and eventually, Gareth knew it was time to take the next step.
While on holiday in Turkey with Emma’s family, Gareth asked her dad for his blessing. Later that evening, after dinner at their favourite Turkish restaurant, he proposed on a romantic bridge over a quiet river. The proposal came as a huge surprise to Emma and even her mum and brother didn’t see it coming!
A Church Ceremony on the Edge of the Peak District
Just over a year later, Emma and Gareth tied the knot with a traditional religious wedding ceremony at St Nicholas Church in Bradfield, a stunning village near the Peak District National Park. The sun shone brightly over the rolling hills, and the couple were surrounded by friends and family in an atmosphere filled with joy and love.
Rustic Wedding Reception at Cubley Hall
After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests made their way to Cubley Hall, one of South Yorkshire’s most popular countryside wedding venues. With its barn-style interiors, beautiful gardens, and scenic views, it’s no wonder why couples love getting married here.
The reception was packed with fun, laughter, and lots of dancing. From the heartfelt speeches to the evening party where everyone hit the dance floor, it was an unforgettable celebration from start to finish.
Emma told me that her favourite part of the day was “all of it!” just being surrounded by their closest loved ones made everything extra special.
A Truly Yorkshire Wedding Celebration
Photographing Emma and Gareth’s wedding was such a joy. They are two of the kindest, most genuine people, and their families welcomed me with open arms. The love, support, and true Yorkshire spirit on display made this day incredibly memorable.
