There’s something magical about autumn weddings in Yorkshire , the beautiful light, crisp air, and warm tones that make the countryside feel extra romantic. Ellis and Joe’s wedding at Holmfirth Vineyard was the perfect example of this. Their day was full of laughter, family, and heartfelt details, captured in a relaxed, natural style.
A Love Story that Started at University
Ellis and Joe first met at university, where their friendship quickly blossomed into something more. Years later, while on holiday in Greece, Joe popped the question, the perfect sun-soaked proposal that led them to this unforgettable day in Yorkshire.
Why Holmfirth Vineyard?
When planning their wedding, Ellis and Joe wanted somewhere meaningful, scenic, and accessible for both their families. Holmfirth Vineyard was the dream choice, surrounded by rolling hills, incredible views across the Holme Valley, and that rustic vineyard charm that makes it such a popular Yorkshire wedding venue.
Autumnal Vibes Without the Pumpkins
Their wedding style was perfectly seasonal, autumnal tones, cosy textures, and soft light, without going too heavy on the Halloween theme. The overall vibe was relaxed, joyful, and filled with personal touches, including a beautiful “Generations of Love” table honouring family history and relationships.
The Wedding Day at Holmfirth Vineyard
Morning Prep: Ellis got ready at the vineyard with her bridesmaids, supported by her Maid of Honour, Charlotte, and surrounded by family. Meanwhile, Joe arrived with his best man and groomsmen, full of excitement for the day ahead.
The Ceremony: Early afternoon, in front of their closest family and friends, Ellis and Joe said their vows with their grandparents proudly signing as witnesses, a truly touching moment.
The Celebration: After confetti, laughter, and family portraits, guests enjoyed drinks with sweeping vineyard views before sitting down for a delicious wedding breakfast. (When asked what they were most looking forward to, Ellis and Joe had one word: the food! And it certainly didn’t disappoint.)
Photography – Natural, Relaxed, and Joyful
Ellis and Joe wanted their wedding photography to feel relaxed and real, capturing the atmosphere, love, and laughter without endless posing. As a Yorkshire wedding photographer, I always aim to document weddings in a natural way, focusing on the candid moments and genuine connections. From the bridal prep through to vineyard portraits, their day was an absolute dream to photograph.
Advice from the Couple
When I asked Ellis and Joe what advice they’d share with future couples, their answer was simple but powerful:
“Don’t sweat the small stuff! Remember it is just one day, be excited for the marriage not just the wedding. Your day is made by the people and the love you are surrounded by.”
Kind Words
Ellis and Joe chose me as their wedding photographer after I had photographed Ellis’s best friend Charlotte’s big day:
“You did a fab job for my best friend Charlotte, relaxed and happy!”
It was an honour to capture another chapter in this friendship circle, and I couldn’t be happier for Ellis and Joe.
