How do you chose the photographer that is right for you on your wedding day ?
There are so many of us out there right? All vying for your attention with special offers and beautiful portfolios.
In an over saturated market how do you chose “the one” that is the perfect match for you (that's me of course! LOL!)
Firstly, choose a photographer that has pictures in their portfolio that capture the way you would like to remember your wedding. I know that sounds obvious but don’t pick one that has stylised magazine type photos if you are wanting a light airy vintage style wedding. Ask to see a full wedding portfolio not just a couple of their best shots so you get a feel of their overall style.
Pick a photographer that captures the details of the day as well as the emotions. After all, you have also spent many more hours trawling the internet for your gifts, flowers, hair etc. Make sure your photographer will document these details for you.
Pick a photographer that wants to get to know you …yes you!
Getting to know you prior to the wedding is hugely important. Remember, your photographer is going to be with you all day long, on one of the most important days of your lives, so it's vital you feel comfortable with them and they don’t make you feel anxious. A stressed or unhappy bride and groom don't make for good photos so pick someone who makes you feel relaxed and comfortable and bring out the best in you. Remember, wedding photographers aren't just suppliers, they're one of the most important guests at your wedding
This is a tricky subject but try not to scrimp on your photography budget. I’m not saying cheap photographers are bad, there are great ones in the lower budget range and also there are poor photographers in the higher range. The photos are the only lasting memories of the day after you have eaten the cake and drunk the champagne. Please don’t rely on your friends and family to capture these precious moments on their phones or cameras. Let them relax and invest in a great photographer that you love.
